About Us >> Centre AwardsThe following awards will be presented at the Presentation Evening held in conjunction with the AGM at the end of the season. To be eligible for the following awards all athletes must have competed in at least 70% of centre meetings held at the Centre or joint meetings since registration. (Excluding those cancelled due to weather or events at SANTOS). An Athlete is deemed to have competed at a meet if they compete in at least 50% of events held for their age group at that meet. i.e. if there are 5 events held, the athlete must compete in at least 3 events that night. Most ImprovedIn each age group an award will be given to the athlete who improves the most over the season. For ages Under 6 to Under 8:
For ages Under 9 and above:
Points will awarded based on the number of times an athlete equals or achieves a Personal Best and for attendance at Personal Best Day. In the event of a tie the Most Improved Athlete will go to the athlete who achieves the most Personal Bests. If this does not separate the athletes 2 awards will be given. Most Outstanding AthleteIn each age group for Under 9 to Under 17 an award will be given to the most outstanding athlete. A medal will be awarded to the athlete who scores the most points. Points will be awarded for the following:
In the event of a tie the Most Outstanding Athlete will go to the athlete who achieves the most Centre Bests. If this does not separate the athletes 2 awards will be given. If the same athlete wins the Most Improved and Most Outstanding award the Most Improved award will go to the runner-up. Athlete of the YearThe winner of the Most Outstanding Athlete of the year for each age group will be nominated for the Athlete of the Year. There will be one award for male athlete of the year and one for female athlete of the year. The committee will vote to determine the Athlete of the year. Recognition AwardThe committee has the discretion to award a Best Club Person Award at the end of each season. All members of the club will be eligible for the award. The award will be given to the person that the committee decides has given extra meritorious service to the centre. State Team SelectionAny athlete selected in The South Australian State Team will be awarded $100 towards meeting their costs. Their names will be also inscribed on to the Centre's Honour Board Mayor of Marion Junior Athlete Encouragement AwardFor the junior athlete (under 6-8 ages) the most improved male and female for the season will awarded a trophy to be presented by the Mayor of the City of Marion, (or representative / HCLAC Club Captain's) This award will be based on results from the most improved awards as per the criteria mentioned above (most improved award) The eligible male and female who have shown the greatest improvement through the season will be awarded the trophy. Mayor of the City of Marion Junior Participation MedalAwarded to all junior athletes (Under 8 and below) including Tiny Tots, who participate in at least 70% of eligible meetings after registration. This medal will be presented by the Mayor of City of Marion (or representative / HCLAC Club Captains).
