HCLAC offers coaching for registered
members, in addition to the club meets on Friday evenings. The purpose of these coaching
sessions will be compatible with the theme of Little Athletics, "Family
Fun & fitness" and encompass:
- An emphasis on teaching specific techniques for
events.
- Providing an opportunity to
enhance interest in athletics.
- Catering for the individual ability of each
athlete.
- Challenges for the more mature
athlete to critically look at their performance and provide motivation
to achieve their best.
- An opportunity for parents to
become more involved in HCLAC.
The coaching sessions will challenge
the athlete but the intention is not to engage in very vigorous
'workouts'. Extreme physical activity is unproductive and potentially
harmful for young athletes.
Coaching sessions are held on Mondays from 5pm to 6pm and on Thursdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Sessions are free of charge.
The coaching sessions will include:
- a warm-up
- improvement to event technique
- advice on equipment and diet
- assistance with individualized training
program
- warm-down, team bonding (games)
Our coaching program is run by our Head Coach, Jon Hall. Jon is a Level 2 graded
Australian Track and Field Coach (ATAFC) in throws. Iain Carlin is also a Level 2 coach in
Hurdles/Sprints/Relays.
We also have a number of Level 1 ATAFC graded coaches who
will be assisting with the coaching nights.
Specific training will take precedence according to the Season Planner (for
example, State Relay Championship, Multi-event Championships, and State
Individual Championships).
For further
advice please contact, Jon Hall, Coaching coordinator at the
HCLAC.
