ASTHMA AWARENESS COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Due to our contract with Asthma SA in relation to the presentation and
implementation of Asthma First Aid we as an Association must reach certain
requirements as below:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have qualified accredited presenters to present our Asthma First
Aid Courses to our Coaches, Officials, Chaperones, Parents, Administrators.
- These Presenters must each year be re accredited in accordance with
Asthma SA policy.
- The Course should be no less than one (1) hour in duration The Accreditation
of the Asthma First Aid Course is now for two (2) years instead of previously
for one (1) year, but may be varied due to changes of policy within
Asthma SA.
- Other people who may have done an Asthma First Aid Course with either
Red Cross or with St John Ambulance must be able to prove to the SALAA
Asthma Course Co-ordinator that they have completed a full one (1) hour
course with the above mentioned providers to meet SALAA's requirements
with both Asthma SA and our Insurance providers.
REASONS:
Unfortunately at present the Asthma Components in the Senior Fist Aid
Certificates of both Red Cross and St John Ambulance do not meet the above
requirements of being a one (1) hour duration component. To meet Asthma
SA's requirements negotiations between the both above mentioned providers
are negotiating the restructure of their components to a more comprehensive
state with Asthma SA.
