Getting Involved >> Parent Participation

The Hallett Cove Little Athletics Centre relies heavily on the parents to ensure that the night can run efficiently and to also ensure that the athletes can be given the time and attention that they deserve by the coaches who otherwise would be tied up supervising children and officiating.

The Centre has a Parent Participation Policy. Under this policy, it is a condition of registration that a parent will always be in attendance and assist in the running of the meet when their children are present. This requirement is imposed on the club for insurance and liability reasons. The policy allows the committee to suspend a families' membership if this condition is not met.

This season there will be a roster for some of the key tasks (set-up, pack-up, starting, timekeeping, canteen) and each family will be required to make themselves available to perform those jobs.

How can you help?

If you are unsure of how to perform any the duties (time keeping, chaperone, bbq cook, tiny tots assistant) please ask a committee member, check out the information on this website or have a look at the 'How To Help At Little Athletics' guide (a copy came with your registration pack).

The committee understands that some families will have difficulty attending with their children each week due to work or other family commitments. If you are likely to be in this position, please speak to the Volunteer Coordinator (Kim Carlin, or President Iain Carlin so that we can make alternative arrangements for you.

Remember that most tasks that need to be performed at a Little Athletics meet are fairly easy, and your children will enjoy seeing you get involved.
