D J Adair wins Silver at the Australian Little Athletics Championships

Congratulations to D J (U13) who did SA and Hallett Cove proud at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Melbourne on April 26th.

D J won a Silver medal in the 800 metres - that means he's the second fastest U13 in Australia - pretty good for Hallett Cove !

D J also competed in the 100m and Long Jump coming 6th in both events and breaking our Centre Best records in the process.

A great effort by a fantastic young athlete. A tribute to all his hard work and a great ambassador for our Centre.

Well done D J.

HCLAC - 2006 "be active" Recreation and Sport Industry Award Winner

ORS Industry Award Winner Logo

"It takes immense dedication and foresight to turn a major crisis into an exciting fresh start. That's exactly what the Hallett Cove Little Athletics Centre has achieved. In 2004 the Centre was facing the real threat of folding due to spiralling ground fees but the volunteer management committee decided to make the tough decision and relocate the Centre. It took this opportunity HCLAC Volunteers to further develop and promote volunteering and therby strengthen it's club. It's success is impressive with improved communications, volunteer resources and improved delivery of services with better trained and informed volunteers.

Family participation is up by fifty percent on the previous season and the committee has increased the number of coaches, created job descriptions and has provided a safe and healthy working environment for it's volunteers.

The bottom line: the Hallett Cove Little Athletics Centre is now a viable organisation delivering opportunities for families to enjoy all the benefits of sport, recreation and volunteering."
